L’Abrie de Dieu Safe House
Stellenbosch
We provide a safe, supportive and accommodating environment for abused women and children
How We Help
This is a shelter for woman and children who are exposed to domestic violence. Our aim is to provide a haven where victims of violence can rebuild their lives, gain empowerment, and break free from the cycle of violence. In achieving this confidentiality is strictly maintained to protect the privacy and anonymity of victims.
Our beneficiary demographics have been verified by an independent competent person as required in terms of Broad-based Black Economic Empowerment (B-BBEE) legislation. More than 75% of our residents are previously disadvantaged South Africans. Corporate funders can therefore claim B-BBEE socio-economic development points in their CSI constitution. Our Board operates under the King IV Report on Corporate Governance (2017).
While we are conscious of social stigma and cultural barriers which can discourage victims from seeking assistance, we are committed to breaking down these barriers through education, advocacy and by fostering a compassionate and understanding environment. This also goes hand in hand with establishing partnerships with local organisations, government agencies and businesses as well as continuous awareness campaigns are conducted to encourage victims to seek help and support. These collaborations will expand our services and strengthen our impact.
By leveraging our strength, addressing challenges, and pursuing opportunities, we will continue to make a positive impact on the lives of victims of violence and contribute to the ongoing fight against domestic violence in our society.
